I present to you a map I am working on, Universalis! This map started as a custom heightmap for a Europa Universalis 4 mod I was working on, it was meant to be a island that would be free to colonize during the age of Columbus. Unfortunately the mod didn't work so I gave up and made a Cities: Skylines custom map out of it, I really liked the way it turned out. Few months after that rust map making is now a thing so I imported the heightmap into RustEdit and spent couple of hours experimenting with heights, dimensions and drawing all sorts of topologies, biomes and textures. Before adding monuments I decided to release the map as a pre alpha just so I can get some community feedback.
Here is a brief version of the story:
A underwater volcano erupted so much it made a island, few decades later people settled there creating a town, a decade later after the town's creation volcano once again explodes covering most of traces that people lived on the island. Two decades later researchers settle on the island to investigate geological activity and radiation caused by radioactive elements in the rocks released by the 2nd eruption. Some parts of the island have been dug out, showing what once was a prospering town. Some of the monument and road locations will be based of my Cities: Skylines game on the same map
